Denis Villeneuve ( Sicario, The Arrival) is directing. While there’s no word yet on the plot of the film, Blade Runner 2049 will co-star Ryan Gosling, Jared Leto, and Robin Wright. Blade Runner 2049 takes place decades after the original film, and Harrison Ford is returning as Rick Deckard. The long awaited sequel to the game changing sci-fi classic Blade Runner has been officially titled. The upcoming all-female spinoff of Ocean’s 11, titled Ocean’s 8, has been given a Jrelease date. It’s a timeless action movie set up that looks like it might be, if nothing else, fun as all hell. Foxx stars as an undercover cop with mafia connections whose son is kidnapped by his enemies. It’ll be interesting to see how critical and audience reactions to Suicide Squad’s extended cut differ from the theatrical cut. If Suicide Squad performs similarly, the question becomes why doesn’t WB just let these movies be what they’re going to be? There are better ways to sell DVDs than making them extended cuts showing good movies in the theater is one of them. Neither film was particularly well received by critics, though the extended release of Dawn of Justice fared better upon its release.
